Punta Cana International Airport (IATA: PUJ, ICAO: MDPC) is a privately owned commercial airport in Punta Cana, eastern Dominican Republic. The airport was built with open-air terminals and roofs covered in palm fronds. Grupo Punta Cana built the airport, which was designed by architect Oscar Imbert, and inaugurated it in December 1983. Central Romana Port, located in La Romana, belong to Central Romana Corporation which is a private company established in 1912 and has the largest sugar mill in the country. The following six local ports are a single pier with berth facility: Cayo Levantado Port or (Arroyo Barruk/Puerto Duarte) is located in the Samaná Bay.
The current airport has been open for 22 years and opened in December 2000 and replaced the earlier La Romana Airport with the same name and IATA code. The old airport was on the Caribbean shore, 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) southwest of the current airport. [ 6 ]

The port has two terminals, whose names are Muelle Comercial (Commercial Harbor) and Terminal Turistica (Tourist Terminal), and its main operations are general cargo, container cargo, ferries, cruise, fuel/diesel and sugar mill exportation.
