A 2024 survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations from September 14 to 23, 2024 estimated 16.3 million Filipino families considered themselves poor compared to 12.9 million in March 2024. Self-rated poverty were highest in Mindanao (67 percent), followed by Visayas (62 percent), and Luzon (55 percent, excluding Metro Manila).
The region posted the second highest average annual family income in Mindanao in 2009, although lower than the national average. Between 2006 and 2009, annual family income increased by 16.2 percent from PHP 142,000 to PHP 165,000. On the average, incomes rose by 5.4 percent annually exceeding the region‟s RDP target of five percent.
