Elena Gilbert is a fictional character and protagonist from the novel series The Vampire Diaries. In the television series adaptation , set in the fictional town of Mystic Falls, she is portrayed by Nina Dobrev .

Elena and Stefan seem to have a solid friendship in the works, which is a nice change from the awkwardness of months past. Caroline’s sudden jealousy didn’t seem too sudden: Candice Accola did a good job of conveying Caroline’s confused reactions to her own surprising interest in Stefan.
The episode starts with Katherine (Nina Dobrev) in Elena's body meeting Matt (Zach Roerig). She reveals to him right away that she is in fact Katherine. She explains that she wants him to tell her everything she should know about Elena so she will be able to pretend being her without anyone noticing. She then compels him to not reveal her secret.
Later on, Elena continues reading the journal where it says that for the Original to remain dead, the dagger should not be removed. Stefan rushes to call Damon but when Damon goes to check on Elijah's body, the body is gone. Elijah is mad and goes to Jonas (Randy J. Goodwin) demanding to find where is Elena immediately.
The big ticket items this week are Elena finding out who her father really is, Bonnie admitting that she did not remove the power of Johnathan Gilbert's device, and Damon's newfound humanity. Each storyline is suitably addressed in the hour, and as usual, new problems present themselves by the end."
"No Exit" received mixed to negative reviews with many hoping that now that Katherine's secret was revealed, the show will "kick in". Carrie Raisler from The A.V.
