Chao'an (Chinese: 潮安; pinyin: Cháo'ān) is a district of Chaozhou City in eastern Guangdong Province. It was Chao'an County until June 2013, when it became a district of Chaozhou. [1] The former county was known as 'Haiyang' until 1914. It has an area of 1,238.77 km 2 (478.29 sq mi) and a population of 1,175,150 (2020 census).
Chaozhou (Chinese: 潮州), alternatively Chiuchow, [3] Chaochow [4] or Teochew, [5] is a city in the eastern Guangdong province of China. It borders Shantou to the south, Jieyang to the southwest, Meizhou to the northwest, the province of Fujian to the east, and the South China Sea to the southeast.
