The Papua New Guinea national basketball team is the team that represents Papua New Guinea in international basketball and is a member of FIBA Oceania. Derrick Richard White (born July 2, 1994) [1] is an American professional basketball player for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Nicknamed "the Buffalo," [2] White played three years of college basketball in Division II for the Colorado–Colorado Springs Mountain Lions before transferring to Division I's Colorado Buffaloes for his final year.
In 2016, White moved to the United States to play college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils. [11] As a freshman in 2016–17, White played in 10 games and averaged 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds in 6.1 minutes per game. [1] As a sophomore in 2017–18, he played in 28 games and averaged 1.5 rebounds in 5.7 minutes per game. [1]
