Moccasin Creek State Park is a 32-acre (13 ha) state park located on the western shore of Lake Burton in Rabun County in the northeast corner of Georgia. The park features campgrounds ; a fishing pier for the physically disabled, the elderly, and children; and walking trails.
The park itself is well known for its water-friendly recreation. It contains two lakes, one 12 acres (4.9 ha) and the other 16 acres (6.5 ha), and the largest sand beach of any Georgia state park. The state of Georgia first purchased the land for the park in 1999. In 2006, the state approved $7 million for the first phase of park development. [2] Beginning in 2008, the Friends of Chattahoochee Bend organization began hosting work days to aid in the development of the park. The park was opened to the public on July 1, 2011.
