The John Cooper School is an independent, college-preparatory, day school for students in prekindergarten through grade 12. [2] The campus is located in a forested area of The Woodlands, Texas, a planned community of approximately 114,000 residents [3] located approximately 40 miles (64 km) north of Houston.
Cooper helped move the campus from its Richmond location to the current Memorial site. Cooper left to co-found The John Cooper School in Woodlands in 1972. [9] Glenn Ballard was recruited to replace Cooper in 1972. Ballard had previously been headmaster at Dallas' Hockaday School. Ballard retired after 24 years. [11]
