Midsize Sedans 2.0. pat Member Posts: 10,421. April 2007 edited March 2016. We know that the midsize sedans topic has been greatly missed and we would like to try again. Let's see if we can start off with some ground rules so that it is abundantly clear what this topic is about. Well, duh, it's about midsize sedans.
But to be fair and contribute to the discussion I went back and looked up the data with the midsize sedans I am actually considering (with one five door included because it was on my list). The cars are a pretty good cross section of mainline 2007 midsize sedans: Impala, Malibu MAXX (the five-door), Camry, Sedona, Fusion and Accord.
Out of all the midsize sedans out there, the accord is always the most expensive.....and usally several thousand more. Sure, they're rebating the hell out of 'em now, and sales are way up. But, I'd be willing to bet when the 08's show up, the price rises, and the rebates dissapear; you won't get one off the lot for less than 23-24k.
The top sellers in sedans in Sept. The new Camry appears to be a hit. But the Civic still has a chance of beating it this calendar year.... Civic 35,452 +26% Camry 34,732 +13% Corolla 30,931 -1% Accord 29,789 +9% Malibu 23,989 +12% Fusion 21,253 +3% Sentra 19,128 +40% So far this year, Civic sales total 284,380 while Camry sales are at 282,507.
The 6 is a joy on curvy roads, quickly taking a set with minimal understeer and negligible bump steer--not something you expect to find in the four-cylinder midsize-sedan category. Mazda thoughtfully includes grippy and supportive bucket seats in the open-feeling interior, which is designed with large, strategically placed knobs, dials, and ...
The particular model whose history was written and analyzed was the almost all-new 1996 Taurus, the successor to Ford's blockbuster midsize success from 10 years before. To make a long story short, since the first Taurus had been a huge success, Ford was willing to throw lots of money and engineering muscle into the second generation of it ...
As we know, sales of midsize sedans have been falling for years, but the the surviving midsize cars are all good. The newest is the all-new 2020 Sonata. All the tests I've seen so far have been loaded models, but Joe Raiti of Raiti's Rides tests in this video a base model 2020 Sonata SE with an msrp of c.$24k.
"The Honda Accord is to the midsize family sedan category what the BMW 3 Series is to the entry-level luxury sedan category. Even the manufacturers that don't blatantly copy it still use it as a reference point when designing their own midsize offering." Most of these reviews are on the previous model but there is not much available on the '08 yet.
I thought it would be a good idea to compare the top 6 import mainstream sedans: Learn more about Hyundai Sonata at the Edmunds.com Car Forums! Read real discussions on thousands of topics and get your questions answered.
actually the 6 has done quite well in the World Challenge Touring Car Championship over the last few years. granted it's a souped up version with many aftermarket parts, but it does show how good of chassis the 6 has. And keep in mind, the 6 is the only midsize sedan in this group that has been chosen as Consumer's Digest Most Sporty Cars of 2007.
