Came across a 1951 vintage 30-06 Remington 721 for sale. Pics look great. ... Remington model 721 action ...
morning, I have built numerous calibers off the rem. 721 action. the action is very strong. replace the trigger. never had a problem. if u build a wsm cartridge off the 721 action, u will have to widen the feed rails in the action. u will have to open the bolt face. if wished u can have a sako extractor installed on the bolt face.
I have an old Remington 721 in .270. I was thinking about having this gun tuned up and rebarreled and was wondering if it would be worth it. Not sure if the 721 actions are worth using. I assume that remington 700 barrels work. Also, need ideas for a good caliber that would work with this action.
My first 721 project was swapping in a 700 trigger and 700 magnum bolt and putting it in a Sendero Stock and adding a ER Shaw 300wsm Varmint barrel. Current 721 project is using a 700 magnum bolt, original trigger, Knoxx Axiom Kings Camo stock, and a Douglas 7mmWSM barrel. Both are using Cabelas Kwik Klip's that hold 7 rounds of WSM.
The 721 is a great action, and would be an awesome action for a .280 AI or .25-06 AI build down the line (hint, hint )... Also, to answer your question, the 721 WILL fit in a 700 stock, but will require some trimming and fitting for it to fit properly, as it is slightly different than the 700.
Currently I have an old Remington Model 721, .270w cal. that is a hunting rifle. I had a replacement trigger ( Timney ) installed last year to replace OEM trigger that was recalled. It has been a good hunting rifle with 1 " groups off the bench at 200 yards so I don't want to screw it up.
Yesterday I went to visit my uncle and he gave me an old Remington 721 chambered in 300 H&H. It could use a stock refinish and re-blue but looks to be in fair condition for it's age. It has a 26" barrel. Tomorrow i will clean the barrel thoroughly and run my video bore scope down the pipe and see what condition the bore is in.
I have a Model 721 in 270 Winchester and I like it very much. It is not as pretty as my 35 Whelen Model 700 but it is a fine rifle. My previous rifles in this series, a 30-06 model 721 and a 300 Savage Model 722 were fine accurate rifles that I would love to have again.
I have an older model 721 rifle chambered in 30-06 that I have been itching to use for a build. My question is in regards to the action and it's compatibility with Remington model 700 parts (barrel, trigger, stock etc.) I know the 721 was the predecessor to the 700, but how interchangeable are...
Do Remington 700 barrels fit on the 721 action? I'm concidering a caliber change on my pet 721 ...
