The Rascals (originally known as the Young Rascals) are an American rock band, formed in Garfield, New Jersey east of Paterson in 1965. [2] The original lineup featured lead vocalist and keyboardist Felix Cavaliere, vocalist and percussionist Eddie Brigati, drummer Dino Danelli, and guitarist and vocalist Gene Cornish.
Currently Cornish is touring in a group called Felix Cavaliere & Gene Cornish's Rascals, which also features drummer Carmine Appice. Felix Cavaliere (born November 29, 1942) [3] [4] is an American musician. He is best known for being the co-lead vocalist and keyboard player for The Young Rascals . Although he was a member of Joey Dee and the Starliters , known for their hit " Peppermint Twist ", [ 5 ] he is best known for his association with the Young Rascals during the 1960s.
In late 1964, Danelli teamed with Cavaliere, Brigati, and a Canadian-born guitarist named Gene Cornish to form the Young Rascals. Cavaliere and Danelli traveled to Las Vegas in January 1963–1964 to back up singer Sandu Scott and her Scottys, but returned to NYC in February 1964.
Lead vocals came from both Eddie Brigati and Felix Cavaliere, as well as from Eddie's brother and unofficial band member David Brigati (on "Finale: Once Upon a Dream") and Gene Cornish on his own number, "I'm Gonna Love You." [2]
