The Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA) is a regional library system in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area of Minnesota. It consists of eight library systems in seven counties, with a total of over one hundred member libraries. Library card holders at any member system may borrow materials from another MELSA member system.
LARL established 10 Library LINK sites which provide small collections, computer terminals connected to the LARL catalog, regular hours and volunteers trained and supported by library staff. The Washington County Historical Society operated from a room at the Stillwater Public Library, collecting county-wide documents, photos, and family histories. [ 1 ] In 1941, the Society purchased the Warden's House Museum in Stillwater from the state, one of the state's oldest buildings and its second oldest continuously operating house museum.

Libraries in Minnesota receive a portion of funding from the Minnesota Legacy Amendment under the Arts and Cultural Heritage funding allocation. In 2011, the Arrowhead Library System received $457,762.74 in legacy funding, and was able to provide 134 programs to 22,496 residents in northeastern Minnesota. [7]
