The Ford Starliner was a full-size, two-door, fastback variant of the flagship Galaxie, manufactured and marketed by Ford Motor Company for model years 1960 and 1961.. In 1960, the Starliner hardtop, along with the Sunliner convertible, comprised the Galaxie Special Series, [1] using the high-level Galaxie trim and Starliner script replacing the trunklid's Galaxie emblem. Trying to come up with a quick solution, Ford attempted to enter the Starlift, which was a Sunliner convertible with a removable roof with a curved roofline similar to the 1960–61 Starliner. NASCAR banned the Starlift from competition, and few if any were actually produced.
