Middleton is a city in Canyon County, Idaho, United States. The population amounted to 9,091 at the 2021 census estimate, [ 5 ] up from 5,524 at the 2010 census and 2,978 in 2000. [ 6 ] [ 7 ] It is part of the Boise City – Nampa , Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area .
The Idaho Legislature created Canyon County from Ada County in an act approved March 7, 1891, effective at the November 26, 1892, election. Caldwell was established as the county seat. The county originally contained all of Canyon and Payette counties and part of Gem; Gem County formed in 1915 and Payette County in 1917. [18]
The Middleton Substation is a 1-story, Italianate building in Middleton, Idaho, that was part of an interurban railway loop that connected Middleton, Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell. Constructed in 1912, the small, 16-ft by 30-ft substation provided space both for transformers and for an office.
