    I've tried playing MP4 files in Windows Media Player as well, which did work. The only video app which allows me to display MP4 files is Windows Media Player. Video app, Movie Maker, and Photos do not allow me to display MP4 files.

    Replied on April 14, 2023. Report abuse. Hi Aaron, I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you. Windows 11 Media Player should play H.264 video files without additional codecs. If you need to reproduce files encoded in H.265 you need to instal the HEV Video Extensions.
