Franklin County is a county in the Northeast region of the U.S. state of Georgia.As of the 2020 census, the population was 23,424. [1] The county seat is Carnesville. [2] On February 25, 1784, Franklin and Washington became Georgia's eighth and ninth counties, [3] with Franklin named in honor of patriot Benjamin Franklin.
It curves to the north-northwest and crosses over the Hudson River, where the highway enters Franklin County proper. The highway makes a very gradual curve to the northeast and curve to the north, where it intersects the eastern terminus of Bold Springs Road (which used to be part of SR 164 ) and the southern terminus of Bold Springs Church Road.

State Route 281 (SR 281) is a south–north state highway located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. Its route is in Madison and Franklin Counties, with a brief section straddling the Madison-Hart County line.
