West Tisbury is a town located on Martha's Vineyard in Dukes County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 3,555 at the 2020 census. [ 1 ] Along with Chilmark and Aquinnah , West Tisbury forms "Up-Island" Martha's Vineyard.
Lambert's Cove Road is separated into two sections. Lower Lambert's Cove begins in the Town of Tisbury and contains the old cranberry bog. Upper Lambert's Cove begins in the center of West Tisbury and accesses Lambert's Cove Beach, Seth's Pond and the FOCUS Study Center. It is the sole access to a large number of summer and year-round residences.
The street was developed by Thomas Bradley, who also counted a mill in West Tisbury among his businesses. Laid out in 1831, a series of houses were constructed along the road between 1830 and 1860, most in the Greek Revival style. These houses were all built by local builders, apparently without the benefit of architectural guidance.
