The area in what is known as Los Cuates today was first settled in the late 1940s, with only scattered houses and farms in the area. It was most likely named for the surrounding Resaca de Los Cuates. The community soon developed into a colonia with several scattered houses in the 1960s. These homes numbered 30 in 1983.
