The Brazilian Air Force (Portuguese: Força Aérea Brasileira, [ˌfoʁsaˈɛɾjɐ bɾaziˈlejɾɐ], also known as FAB, or [ˌɛfiaˈbe]) is the second-largest air force in the Americas (behind only the United States) and has around 70,000 active personnel. The FAB is subdivided into four operational commands.

The Brazilian Air Force (Portuguese: Força Aérea Brasileira, FAB) is the air branch of the Brazilian Armed Forces and one of the three national uniformed services. The FAB was formed when the Brazilian Army and Navy air branches were merged into a single military force initially called "National Air Forces" in 1941.
The origin of the Base goes back to 27 November 1957 when President Juscelino Kubitschek signed the decree 42,697 establishing the Brasília Detachment of Air Force Base. [2] However, it was only on 4 December 1963, with Decree 53,077 that Brasília Air Force Base on its own right was created. Dedication took place on 1 January 1964. [3]
