The York State Fair is a ten-day fair held in July/August in York, Pennsylvania. Formerly known as the York Fair and held in September, it was renamed and rescheduled for 2020, though it was canceled that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [1] [2] [3] It is one of the oldest fairs in the country, tracing its roots to 1765.
During the first edition in 2005, 3,500 visitors attended the event, in 2007 the festival attracted 16,000 visitors and in 2011 more than 24,000 visitors entered the gates of Castlefest. In August 2015 the festival attracted a record number of 35,000 visitors. [2] At the 14th edition in 2018, more than 40,000 people attended the festival. [3]

The gardens, like the castle, are on a large scale, covering nearly 12 ha (29 + 1 ⁄ 2 acres). Terraced lawns around the castle overlook 18th century parkland. The adjoining woodland gardens and walled gardens date largely from the early 19th century and encompass a grotto of eroded limestone from nearby Lough Derravaragh and two ornamental lakes.
