¼" TS to RCA cables are perfectly safe and legit for this application and readily available. Basically Ring "R" and Shield "S" on the TRS side will short to "S" on the RCA end. No danger at all. Pro Co DKQR-5 Dual RCA - RCA Cable - 5' You could also use a TRS to RCA adapter and then standard RCA to RCA cables:
In my experience, the pf per unit of cable D is lowest for the twisted pair. To achieve very low pf with a conventional coax results in pretty thick and stiff stuff. So if one is looking for low capacitance without difficult to manage cable, the twisted pair with the shield floating on one side works pretty well.
My phono cable is now Cardas Iridium, my XLR interconnects are Moon Audio’s Blue Dragon variant, and my RCA interconnects are Pangea Audio’s Premier SE variant. All are far more transparent and clear sounding than the BJC. If you’re starting out, and you want to have consistency in cables, BJC will get the job done and not offend.
The capacitance of that cable wired for standard single ended audio (and even for balanced audio) is going to be way, way higher than 3.4 pF/ft, if I'm ready the specs correctly, more like 23 pF/ft, but I don't think that's even the spec if you connect the shield to the return in for use with RCA. I think the cap will even be higher still.
It is as quiet as any RCA interconnect I have tested using my "Kyocera flip pre-out/main-in switch back and forth during quiet part of tune while cranking it" test. The internal/"normal" connection is dead silent and differences among cables in what I am 99.9% certain is shielding effectiveness is clearly noticeable under these extreme testing ...
I bought my 2497 here : Mogami 2497 RCA to RCA Hi Fi Cable (Pair) w/ Gold Amphenol Connectors The 2964 is a coax/spdif cable : Mogami 2964 RCA 75 Ohm Digital Coaxial S/PDIF Cable w/ Amphenol Gold Connectors Very good dealer (in Greece so more Eu oriented)!
Interconnects (RCA & XLR): Wireworld Audio Interconnect Cables | High-End Interconnects Speaker cable: Wireworld Speaker Cables | High-End Audio Cables In the chart for interconnects, there is a "Fidelity" column split into the balance between "Design Efficiency" and "Material Quality".
I just ordered some RCA male to female that looks like a subwoofer cable to try out. I've been using standard everyday RCA cables probably back from 80's or so and been hearing some problems. I traced it to the female to female barrel connector and thus looking for a way to get around using one of those.
There's also issues of sonic degradation at the points where two different metals meet, like RCA to RCA connections. I've eliminated the RCA connectors from my SME III arm, hard-wiring Canare Star-Quad to the tonearm's bare wire.
However I read the following on a website. "The main disadvantage of using an RCA cable is that it doesn’t deliver enough power to the subwoofer for demanding applications. This is because it can’t handle the relatively large amounts of power needed for subwoofers. Even worse, low-frequency sounds can become distorted by an RCA cable."
