Lennox International Inc., headquartered in Richardson, Texas and organized in Delaware, is a provider of climate control products for the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration markets. [1]
David Lennox (April 15, 1855 – February 15, 1947) was an American inventor and businessman. A furnace manufacturing business he founded in 1895 in Marshalltown, Iowa evolved into what is today known as Lennox International, a global corporation specializing in air conditioning, heating, and commercial refrigeration.
Lennox Hearth Products, which was established in 1994 by Lennox International, acquired Whitfield Hearth Products, Superior Fireplace Company and Marco Manufacturing in 1998; Earth Stove and Security Chimneys in 1999; then Country Stoves in 2006.
John W. Norris Jr., a Marshalltown native, led his family's furnace company to international success. He died last week at the age of 87 in Maine.

He designed a new type of low-pressure steam heating system, Trane vapor heating. Reuben Trane, James' son, earned a mechanical engineering degree (B. S. 1910) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and joined his father's plumbing firm. [1] In 1913, James and Reuben, along with Stella Jackson (formerly Trane), incorporated The Trane Company.
