The University of Wisconsin–Whitewater (UW–Whitewater or UWW) is a public university in Whitewater, Wisconsin, United States. It is part of the University of Wisconsin System . As of Fall 2024, the university offers 47 undergraduate majors and 13 graduate programs and enrolls approximately 11,000 students. [ 3 ]
Prior to its merger with UW–Oshkosh in July 2018, the campus was a member of the University of Wisconsin Colleges. As of 2022, the campus enrolled 258 students, making it the third-smallest of the UW branch campuses. The campus closed in May 2024, with the Universities of Wisconsin citing enrollment and cost issues.
Waukesha County purchased the 86-acre (35 ha) campus from William J. and Blanche Hughes, in March 1965. The first buildings on the campus were erected in 1966 on an 86-acre site near the geographic center of Waukesha County. The first classes met in fall 1966 at Mt. St. Paul Seminary because the new buildings were not ready for occupancy.

UW Academy for Young Scholars is an early-college entrance program for 10th graders seeking admission to the University of Washington in Seattle. Founded in 2001, after the creation of Early Entrance Program (EEP), the Robinson Center and the University of Washington Honors Program partnered to create the UW Academy for Young Scholars program.
