A Post-it note (or sticky note) is a small piece of paper with a re-adherable strip of glue on its back, made for temporarily attaching notes to documents and other surfaces. A low- tack pressure-sensitive adhesive allows the notes to be easily attached, removed and even re-posted elsewhere without leaving residue.
Most glue sticks are designed to glue paper and card stock together and are not as strong as some liquid-based variants. They can be used for craft and design, office use, and at school. There are several varieties: permanent, washable, acid-free,non-toxic, solvent-free, and dyed (e.g. to see where the glue is being applied).
Casein glue preparation. In Europe, glue fell into disuse until the period AD 1500–1700. [15] At this time, world-renowned cabinet and furniture makers such as Thomas Chippendale and Duncan Phyfe began to use adhesives to hold their products together. [10] In 1690, the first commercial glue plant was established in The Netherlands.
Post-it as we know it was patented by Fry in 1993 as a "repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet material". [3] Silver worked for over 30 years at 3M rising to a position of a corporate scientist before retiring in 1996. [3] Some of the other products that he worked on included block copolymers and immunodiagnostics. [3]
In 1967, Henkel researcher Dr Wolfgang Dierichs and his team took inspiration from John Lemings and developed a similar glue stick that resembled a lipstick in a twistable casing. [1] The Pritt stick was first marketed in 1969, and by 1971 was available in 38 countries. [ 2 ]
Adhesives may be broadly divided in two classes: structural and pressure-sensitive. To form a permanent bond, structural adhesives harden via processes such as evaporation of solvent (for example, white glue), reaction with UV radiation (as in dental adhesives), chemical reaction (such as two part epoxy), or cooling (as in hot melt).
