Kenwood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Sonoma County, California, located on Sonoma Highway (State Route 12) between the cities of Santa Rosa and Sonoma. It lies east of Sonoma Creek in the upper part of Sonoma Valley , a region sometimes called the Valley of the Moon.
The station's name was changed to Kenwood in 1895 with the rest of the town. Rail service continued until 1936, and the rail line was removed in 1942. [2] In 1940, Southern Pacific sold the depot to the Kenwood Improvement Club for $500 (equivalent to $10,874 in 2023) and it was converted into a community center.
