TAFE Queensland Gold Coast was formed from the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE (or GCIT) in 2013 on 1 July. [1] The vocational education and training (VET) organisation services the Gold Coast region of Queensland , Australia , with six campuses across suburbs including Southport , Coomera , Ashmore and Coolangatta and Robina .
TAFE Queensland is the statutory authority parent body for TAFE technical and further education training in the Australian state of Queensland. Established in 1882, TAFE Queensland is one of Australia's largest education providers with 120,000+ students trained each year [ 1 ] across the state, nationally and internationally.
Many Australians refer to all sub-degree courses as "TAFE" courses, no matter what institution creates or delivers the course. Before the 1990s, the TAFEs had a near monopoly in the sector. TAFE courses provide students an opportunity for certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma qualifications in a wide range of areas.
TAFE Queensland SkillsTech (previously known as SkillsTech Australia and Trade and Technician Skills Institute) is a pre-eminent provider of vocational education and training in Queensland, Australia. It operates four trade training centres across Brisbane. TAFE Queensland SkillsTech offers specialist trade training for many industrial areas. [1]
Two campuses operate in the Rockhampton region: Rockhampton, City (formerly CQ TAFE) and Rockhampton, North. The Rockhampton City campus is centrally located and offers a wide range of study options from certificates and diplomas to undergraduate programs. It also offers short courses in a range of areas including business, hospitality and beauty.
By the early years of the new millennium, even TAFE colleges were permitted to offer degrees up to bachelor's level. The 1980s also saw the establishment of Australia's first private university, Bond University. Founded by businessman Alan Bond, this Gold Coast institution was granted its university status by the Queensland government in 1987.
