Because the distributions are not rollover-eligible, however, taxes are not required to be withheld at the time of distribution, and may thus be postponed until the individual files a Federal income tax return for the year. If the Solo 401(k) plan documents allows them, an in-plan Roth rollover can be done as either a direct or 60-day rollover. For a direct rollover, the plan trustee transfers the non-Roth amount to a designated Roth account in the same plan. In-plan Roth rollovers of amounts not normally distributable must be accomplished via a direct rollover.
