It is located on the western shore of the Overton Arm (northern portion of Lake Mead), within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The community contains a campground run by the National Park Service and a boat ramp. There used to be a marina there as well, but it closed in February 2013. Approximately 200,000 people visit Echo Bay annually.
The lake is approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) from Highway 50 at Echo Summit. The lake is divided into two sections; an Upper lake, and a Lower lake. Echo Bay Airport covers an area of 11 acres (4 ha) at an elevation of 1,535 feet (468 m) above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 6/24 with an asphalt surface measuring 3,400 by 50 feet (1,036 x 15 m). [1] For the 12-month period ending January 31, 2011, the airport had 500 general aviation aircraft operations, an average of 41 per month.

Echo Bay Marine Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, established in 1971 and containing 1.5 hectares (3.7 acres). It is located at the bay of the same name, offshore from the community of the same name, which is the location of the Simoom Sound post office and is on the west side of Gilford Island.
