The most popular course is the one year National Security Course, that lasts 45 weeks of study, with two breaks, each of 2 to 3 weeks duration. Other courses leading to the award of Diploma, BA and MA degrees in conjunction with Nairobi University, are also offered.
The school became the only institution in Kenya training teachers at the degree level, and discontinued all other courses. Degrees offered at Kenyatta were in the name of the University of Nairobi. In 1985, it was granted full university status and was renamed Kenyatta University. [13] [14]
