Savatage (/ ˈ s æ v ə t ɑː ʒ /) is an American heavy metal band founded by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva in 1979 in Tarpon Springs, Florida.The band was first called Avatar, [1] but, shortly before the release of their debut album Sirens (1983), [2] they changed their name to Savatage, as Avatar was already taken by at least one other band.
It premiered on Fox Family on December 14, 1999, as part of their 25 Days of Christmas programming block. On November 13, 2001, it was released on DVD [4] with the Timeless Version of "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24" included as a bonus track. The lost child, Allie Sheridan, would go on to perform with TSO during their 2003 tour.
