Mascoutin Valley State Trail is a rail trail in northeastern Wisconsin. The trail is used for walking, bicycling, horseback riding (except Green Lake County), and snowmobiling during the winter months. The trail can also be used for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing but the trail is not groomed and must be shared with snowmobiles.
The trail is maintained by the counties through which it transgresses, Washington and Fond du Lac counties. Kettlebowl is a small ski area near Bryant, Wisconsin, founded in 1956 and run as a non-profit operation by volunteers of the Langlade County Ski Club. [1] The name Kettlebowl comes from the Kettle Moraine, a large moraine, or glacial deposit, in Northern Wisconsin. The Ice Age Trail route passes through Kettlebowl. [2] [3]
Langlade County was created on March 3, 1879, as New County. It was renamed Langlade County, in honor of Charles de Langlade , on February 20, 1880, and fully organized on February 19, 1881. [ 3 ] The county's original borders extended northward from the top of Shawano County up to the Michigan state line.
