Kenneth Price (February 16, 1935 – February 24, 2012) was an American artist who predominantly created ceramic sculpture. He studied at the Chouinard Art Institute and Otis Art Institute (now Otis College of Art and Design) in Los Angeles, before receiving his BFA degree from the University of Southern California in 1956.
In 1962, the John F. Kennedy administration purchased a special service of Franciscan fine china with the seal of the president of the United States for Air Force One. In 2013, the movie " Gangster Squad " starring James Brolin as Sgt. John O'Mara, the Franciscan pattern Desert Rose were the dishes on the breakfast table in the O'Mara kitchen.
In addition to teaching pottery techniques, Rhead was highly influential in both studio and commercial pottery. He worked for the Roseville Pottery, established his own Rhead Pottery (1913–1917), and in 1935 designed the highly successful Fiesta ware for Homer Laughlin China Company. Today, Rhead's work is displayed in major art museums.
