The Aardvark AMCS Mk4 is a British-made mine flail vehicle built by Aardvark Clear Mine Ltd of Dumfries, Scotland.. The AMCS flail system was developed in Aberdeenshire by David Macwatt of Elgin, Scotland and George Sellar & Son of Huntly (system designers were James (Barney) Hepburn, Pat McRobbie and Alistair Birnie) with the cooperation of Ford Motor Co, Basildon.
The house is the former residence of Harry E. Pierce. Pierce served as County Assessor during the 1920s, was secretary to Governor John C. Phillips from 1929 until 1932, and was chairperson of the Maricopa County Republican Central Committee. In addition to his political activities, Pierce was a partner in the real estate firm of Jacobs & Pierce.
During his years as a resident of Quartzsite, he did some mining in the local mines and on occasion served as a scout for the US government. He died in 1902 and was buried in the Quartzsite Cemetery which was renamed the "Hi Jolly Cemetery" in 1903, in honor of Hadji Ali. The cemetery is located in the intersection of West Elsie and Hi Jolly Lanes.

He named the area Benson after William B. Benson, a California judge who his friend and who was involved in mining operations in Arizona, California, Idaho and Mexico.
