Ip Man 2 (Chinese: 葉問2:宗師傳奇, also known as Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster) is a 2010 Hong Kong biographical martial arts film loosely based on the life of Ip Man, a grandmaster of the martial art Wing Chun. A sequel to the 2008 film Ip Man, Ip Man 2 was directed by Wilson Yip and stars Donnie Yen, who reprises the leading role.

Ip Man is the first film based on the life of Ip Man. It also marks the fourth film collaboration between director Wilson Yip [4] and actor Donnie Yen. [4] The two also reunite with co-star Simon Yam after 2005's SPL: Sha Po Lang. The screenplay for Ip Man was written by Edmond Wong, [4] the son of film producer Raymond Wong. [4]
Ip Man 2, which is produced by Raymond Wong, picks up on Ip Man's life after his migration to Hong Kong where he took on his most famous disciple, Bruce Lee. The film was released 29 April 2010. In 2014, it was announced that Yip and Yen would reunite for a third Ip Man film, to start filming in early 2015 for release later in the year. [1]
