Rick Jones is an American college baseball coach who most recently served as the head coach of the Tulane Green Wave baseball team. He held that position for 21 seasons – from 1994 to 2014 . Early in his coaching career, Jones coached at Ferrum College , while it was an NJCAA member and at Elon College , while it was an NAIA member.
Jones attended La Mirada High School in La Mirada, California. [1] [2] He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round of the 2020 Major League Baseball draft, [3] and signed with the Pirates rather than play college baseball for the Texas Longhorns. [4] [5] Jones made his professional debut in 2021 with the Bradenton Marauders. [6]

A native of Miami, Florida, Jones attended Hialeah High School and played college baseball at the University of Miami. In 1979, Jones played collegiate summer baseball for the Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). Batting .413, he was named the league's outstanding pro prospect, and led the Mets to the league title.
