Camden Road is a station on the Mildmay line of the London Overground, located in the London Borough of Camden in north London. The station is situated in Travelcard Zone 2. There is an official out-of-station interchange with Camden Town tube station on the Northern line of the London Underground, located a 390 metres (1,280 ft) walk away.
In 1870 the North London Railway opened its Camden station, then called 'Camden Town', half a mile to the south west.. This should not be confused with Camden Town Underground station which opened in 1907. It was not until 1950 that there stopped being two 'Camden Town' stations, when the North London Railway station was renamed 'Camden Road'.

The station opened in 1860 [3] [page needed] as Kentish Town on the Hampstead Junction Railway from Camden Road to Old Oak Common Junction south of Willesden Junction.It was renamed Gospel Oak in 1867 when a new station more appropriately named Kentish Town was opened about a mile south on the same line (that station is now Kentish Town West).
At the other end of the road is Camden Town station on the Northern Line Tube, which opened in 1907. The 1850 Camden Road railway station was until then the nearest station. The Alexandria Theatre was constructed in 1873 but burnt down in 1881.
