Vidyalankar Institute of Technology (VIT) is an Autonomous Engineering and Management college approved by the All-India Council for Technical Education , New Delhi, Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra State and affiliated to the University of Mumbai [3] It was accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 2019.
Colleges are spread throughout the city as well as the suburbs. Popular courses include BA, BSc, and BCom. Many colleges also offer professional courses which concentrate on a specialized field. Almost all colleges offer courses at junior college level, which is equivalent to the last two years of high schools in other countries.
Both colleges existed before the university was founded and surrendered their degree-granting privileges to the university. The first degrees awarded in 1862 were Bachelor of Arts and Licentiate in Medicine. [8] Medical schools such as Sindh Medical School in Hyderabad, Sindh were affiliated with the university as well. The medical college (school) provides training to about 2,000 students at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-specialty medical courses-level; in undergraduate and postgraduate physical and occupational therapy courses; Masters and Ph.D. courses in various allied specialties. A nursing school is also maintained by this institution. [3]
Medical school quality is controlled by the central regulatory authority, the National Medical Commission, which inspects the institutes from time to time and recognizes institutes for specific courses. Most of the medical schools were set up by the central and state governments in the 1950s and 60s.

[2] In 2017, a distinct category of deemed universities was established called Institutes of Eminence Deemed to be Universities , which are regulated differently from other deemed universities to develop into world-class institutions.
