Isis (sometimes stylized ISIS) was an American post-metal band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1997 by guitarist and vocalist Aaron Turner, bassist Jeff Caxide, vocalist and electronic instrumentalist Chris Mereschuk and drummer Aaron Harris.
It uses a version of the Muslim Black Standard flag and developed an emblem which has clear symbolic meaning in the Muslim world. [2] Videos by IS are commonly accompanied by nasheeds (chants), notable examples being the chant Dawlat al-Islam Qamat, which came to be viewed as an unofficial anthem of IS, [3] and Salil al-Sawarim.
