Jesse Alexander (born 1929 in Santa Barbara, California, died December 15, 2021, in Santa Barbara, California [1]) was an American photographer who covered motorsports, portraits, birds and travel. [2] [3] [4] He also published several books. One of his first photo expeditions was in 1953 to the Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico. [2]
The work of many previous photographers was often in service to the European colonization of Africa and sought to document Africans as colonial subjects, Acebes's portraits gave the subjects more agency to pose, express emotions and individuality, thus departing from this tradition to an extent.
Frank Hurley was the third of five children to parents Edward and Margaret Hurley and was raised in Glebe, a suburb of Sydney, Australia. [1] He ran away from home at 13 to work on the Lithgow steel mill, returning home two years later to study at the local technical school and attend science lectures at the University of Sydney.
