Remington. I have used a Sako 25.06 for 10 years. Used all the bullets configurations at one time or another. The Remington core lokt 120 grain is the best in my opinion. Longest shot was 420 yards and shortest shot was 50 yards. The bullet performed as it should at both ranges and those in between.

If you are going to use a boattail hunting bullet in a magnum cartridge, be sure to choose a bonded and/or partitioned bullet. Hornady Interbonds in 139 gr and 154 gr, are among the best reasonably priced premium hunting bullets available for hunting deer and elk with a 7 mm magnum. Reply Like. E.
If you can consistently (90+%) hit the vitals of a deer at 200 yds. or more, the 30-30 cartridge will be effective. Most of us, me included, have a maximum effective range somewhere inside of 200yds. And I know the cartridge is effective there. I live and hunt in Wyoming.
At 100 yds it is 1.65" above dead center, and still within the kill zone at 280 yds. The 7mm Mag will be shooting a little bit flatter, so you can push the range out another 25-30 yds. You've actually got it set just about right for the 7 Mag. Don't change a thing. NRA Benefactor Member. Illinois State Rifle Assoc.
Usually that means 2.5 to 3 inchs high at a hundred yards. For the 7mm Rem mag sighted in like that it means that between zero yards and 325 yards you can hold on to the center of a deers chest and be assured of a killing shot without worrying if the bullet will strike high or low.
biggun. 314 posts · Joined 2006. #7 · Oct 27, 2008. I have an early production Winchester 70 XTR Featherweight in .270 Win. and have nothing but good to say about it. It has a very nice blue job and the stock is nicely fit. The bolt is very nicely fit to the receiver and the action is very smooth.
Not surprising that so many powders work well. the 9,3x62 is a medium cartridge volume in a medium bore rifle. The Barnes bullets are pure copper, and because of the different bore friction wide verssitile powder choices aren't going to be good. I would think that imr 4895 would also work for all 3 of you bullet choices.
99% of all shots at deer can be made with 2X scope. If I couldn't get a 2X-7X, I'd rather have a 1X-4X than a 3X-9x, as in close, deer are easier to find at 1X, and in almost 50 years of shooting deers, I've fumbled many shots to high power, but could have made every shot at the longest distances with a 4X.
TRexF16 said: If you use the 60K PSI SAMMI limit for the 30-06 as your maximum for the 9.3x62 (most conservative given the SAMMI max for the 35 Whelen is 62K PSI) it is easy to achieve the energy levels you seek with Big Game or 2000-MR. Pressure tested (at <60K PSI) data is attached. Here's a couple threads to peruse:
