In the early 1970s Calvary Chapel was home to more than 15 musical groups [1] [2] that were representative of the Jesus movement.In 1971, Maranatha!Music was founded as a nonprofit outreach of Calvary Chapel to popularize and promote a new, folk-rock style of hymns and worship songs influenced by the Jesus people.

Music compilations: "Happy in Jesus", released in 1973 on Maranatha Three, "All I Know" in 1974 on Maranatha Four and "Sidney the Pirate" in 1976 on Maranatha Five. [1] The group's only album for Maranatha, Sail On Sailor, was released in 1975 and featured album art by Rick Griffin. [2]
Maranatha started in 2011 as a solo project of Collin Simula, former drummer and bassist for Symphony in Peril and drummer for Kingsblood. [2] [3] Simula independently released their debut EP, Incarnate, in 2012. [3] [4] In 2013, he independently released the second EP, Spiritless, that featured Nick Nowell of The Famine. [5]
The album mostly consists of popular hits from the band's history, with four new songs: "Walau Habis Terang", "Kisah Cintaku" (a cover of Chrisye's song), "Dilema Besar", and "Tak Ada Yang Abadi". In the same year, David Kurnia Albert joined Peterpan as a permanent member after replacing Andika as an additional keyboardist a year later.
