As others have said, balance the tires to save the life of the tires, suspension, belongings and trailer itself! The tire size on our trailers Are motor vehicle size, they should be balanced! Smaller than 14” tires found on contractor trailers etc. are just an added expensive they need to compensate on their clients.
Jabba, I recently had the tires and wheels spin balanced on the trailer after replacing 2 tires due to old age. You would be amazed at how out of balance they were before balancing. It was discovered that several of the cast hubs were so out of balance, that we almost ran out of weight on the rim.

Page 15 is trailer tires. Load ratings C, D, E, 6-10 ply. Very swanky looking, but $214-$259, not so nice. Thinking of biting but maybe someone has a better alternative. I know some folks do their own whitewalls by painting their tires, but does this work or last? I will protect tires with covers when not on the road.
The trailer tires all designed for speed rating at 65 mph. Lots of people towing at much higher speed is not what tire manufacturer recommended. The consideration of upgrading to 16" tire seems related to loading capacity issue instead of speed rating issue.

If the tires really are ST215/75R14 then they are Special Trailer tires. Roger Marble, who is a retired tire engineer and sometimes posts on this site, runs the RVTireSaftey.net website. I would look up what he has to say, but my understand from him is that ST tires in a trailer application should be inflated at the sidewall pressure.
