Once you start getting into stations with better, outdoor antennas, the Pro-1B becomes less of a slam dunk, but rather a solid compliment to an antenna farm. There are many instances where my 80 meter loop will out-perform or out-hear the loop on 80/40/30 meters.
As I chronicled in November 2023 about MFJ being for sale, Recently DX Engineering made a offer to purchase but it was declined by MFJ. Subsequently MFJ will close their doors effective 17 MAY 24 EOP Sales will continue until product is depleted. Warranty repairs for 1 year (For what that's worth). This includes Ameritron, Mirage, Hy-Gain.....
It has been a no brainer for me the maximum distance spread I could get was 95 feet from a tree 60 feet high to a pole 20 feet high, a big sloper next to a massive redwood but still gets out and tunes fine with the LDG 600 remote tuner via a DX Engineering 1:1 balun plus I did put a 250 pf of door knob capacitors in series out of the balun to tune 80, works great, Geoff
Nice review. I had seen Thomas K4SWL use this antenna and I visited the booth at Hamvention, but they weren't selling them and the one floor model they had they sold to someone else. They are periodically out of stock at DX Engineering and I just haven't bitten the bullet yet. I have an AX1 but the MC-750 seems super versatile.

From the beginning, it was clear that Mike was on a mission to create a successful and sustainable company. So, I wasn’t surprised to see an announcement recently that REZ Antenna had teamed up with DX Engineering to distribute his antennas. Mike already has several hundred antennas in the field and has plans to expand his product line.
Once you start getting into stations with better, outdoor antennas, the Pro-1B becomes less of a slam dunk, but rather a solid compliment to an antenna farm. There are many instances where my 80 meter loop will out-perform or out-hear the loop on 80/40/30 meters. Rarely does the Pro-1B outperform on the higher bands where I have a beam on 20/15/10.
CT. I accepted an invitation from Tim Duffy K3LR, the DX Engineering Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager, to visit the DX Engineering facility in Tallmadge, Ohio. On July 23, we rolled into Summit Racing Equipment - the home of DX Engineering. The time went quickly, but we had the opportunity to visit with many of the DX Engineering people.
Very interesting. Theory suggests that ground losses can be an issue with loops near the surface of the earth - up to about o.1 wavelengths is often quoted. I am curious how Mazzoni's Stealth Loop compares with loop antennas at a more usual height. It's certainly the lowest profile 10-40 meter antenna that I know of. Mike AF7ON
A higher-power equivalent is simply a 44' doublet (22' on each side) fed with balanced line. I built one using some spare wire and 450 ohm window line along with a center tee and end insulators that I purchased from DX Engineering.
