[3] It is the story about a couple coming from two states in India, who face hardships in convincing their parents to approve of their marriage. Bhagat wrote this novel after quitting his job as an investment banker.
Bhagat's fourth novel, 2 States, was published in 2009 and drew inspiration from his marriage and wife. The novel revolves around a young engineer falling in love with a South Indian girl and the tribulations of this relationship. The book was adapted into a successful movie of the same name starring Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. [16]
2 States is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy-drama film directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala. [3] Based on Chetan Bhagat's 2009 novel of the same name with the story rewritten by Varman and Bhagat, the film stars Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt with Amrita Singh, Ronit Roy, Revathi and Shiv Kumar Subramaniam in supporting roles.
