Wakefield is a city in Gogebic County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,702 at the 2020 census. Wakefield is located in the western Upper Peninsula about 10 miles (16 km) east of the Wisconsin border. The city is mostly surrounded by Wakefield Township, but the two are administered autonomously.
The Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Salem Church, also known as Salem Church, in Wakefield, Nebraska, was built during 1905-1906 and was added to the National Register in 1983. [1] It is a Late Gothic Revival-style church located off Nebraska Highway 35. The church is 40 by 80 feet (12 m × 24 m) in plan and its steeple is 100-foot (30 m) tall. [3]
The "Friends of Wakefield Chantry Chapel" was formed in 1991 by members of the Wakefield Historical Society, Wakefield Civic Society and members of St Andrew's Church to raise funds to repair the chapel roof and re-point the stonework. A programme of conservation work has since been carried out with the approval of English Heritage.

Best selling author Marianne Williamson served as minister of Renaissance Unity Interfaith Spiritual Fellowship for five years and caused controversy within the church when in 2002 she sought to dissolve the church's formal affiliation with Association of Unity Churches. Because the old church had deteriorated, it was taken down; and a new church building was constructed on the same site in 1926. It has a synthesis of English neo-Gothic and Spanish-colonial styles. The 1870 bell was installed in the new church. The church was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on 29 September 1986.
