The World Government offers Jimbei to join the Seven Warlords of the Sea to promote peace for the island. Hordy, however, is dissatisfied with Jimbei's actions. Jimbei has Arlong released from Impel Down. Arlong reveals that he is a dog of the World Government, and Jimbei fights him. However, he is unable to kill Arlong due to their time together.
After Arlong informs Nezumi, a bribed Marine, of where Nami's earnings are hidden, the village riots against Arlong despite poor odds. After Nami tearfully asks Luffy for help, he and the remaining Straw Hats free the village by fighting and defeating the Arlong Pirates. After a days-long celebration, Nami re-joins the Straw Hat crew.
The Straw Hats attack Arlong Park, during which Buggy reclaims his body and flees. Realizing that Arlong's tower contains 8 years of Nami's painful memories, an enraged Luffy destroys the tower, crushes Arlong, and frees Coco village. Nezumi calls Garp to arrest the Straw Hats; Koby and Helmeppo refuse to arrest them, knowing they are innocent.
There is also a 4 episode arc set outside the current continuity titled "A Gold Lion's Ambition" (金獅子の野望 Kinjishi no Yabō), which serves as a prologue to the concurrently released One Piece Film: Strong World. This arc features Luffy and his crew's run-in with a group of pirates hired by Shiki, the film's main antagonist.
