This is a list of law enforcement agencies in the state of Ohio. According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics' 2008 Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies , the state had 831 law enforcement agencies employing 25,992 sworn police officers, about 225 for each 100,000 residents.
The Berea/Turnpike District operates from four posts on the Ohio Turnpike. Since the turnpike opened in 1955, the Ohio Turnpike Commission has contracted with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to provide law enforcement and assistance to disabled or stranded motorists. The Ohio Collaborative is a twelve-person panel in Ohio that establishes statewide standards for law enforcement agencies. The result of recommendations from a task force created by Ohio Governor John Kasich , the Ohio Collaborative is co-chaired by Director of Public Safety John Born and former Ohio Senator Nina Turner .
