On 4 July 2024, the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) has officially confirmed the comprehensive use of video assistant referee (VAR) technology during the tournament. [ 9 ] [ 10 ] To ensure uniformity and professionalism, the VAR system will be managed by a third-party provider rather than utilising the resources available in member countries.

Group A is one of the two groups of competing nations in the 2024 ASEAN Championship. It consists of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia and East Timor.
