48FILM is an international short film festival and online competition founded in 2009. The competition is open from January to November each year. Professional and amateur filmmakers worldwide are given 48 hours to write, film, edit, produce and upload a short 4-9 minute movie.
The CSSC, founded in 2008 by producer David Cormican, is administered by Year of the Skunk Productions. The competition's partners in 2008 included Playback, Meridian Artists, InkTip, The Spoke Club and Withoutabox. The 48 Hour Film Project is an annual film competition in which teams of filmmakers are assigned a genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue, and have 48 hours to create a short film containing those elements. The competition has been active since 2001.
Founded by John David Ware in 2003, the 168 Film Project started with 13 entries in its inaugural event in Burbank, California. [2] In 2009, 168 added "Write of Passage," a mentored screenwriting competition in which writers worldwide produce a short film script in one week. [3] In 2022, 168 moved its festival location to Fayetteville, Georgia.
