The john deere model B doesn't seem to be as much tractor as the farmall H but the (late) john deere model A is a bit more tractor than the H. At the same time the A is not quite as much tractor as the farmall M, yet the M doesn't seem to be quite as much tractor as a John deere G until the Super M came out and evened things up.

It is the stamped serial engine # on the block. Basically you look up the # on the block to determine the year. This isnt perfectly definative as more of an approximation.
