National Highway 65 (NH 65), (previous name National Highway 9 [1] [2]), is a National Highway in India.It runs along the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

The 3 routes which lead to Shamshabad from the city were NH44 (NH7) via Nehru Zoological Park, Srisailam Highway (NH765) and the Inner Ring Road, Hyderabad via Mehdipatnam. Out of the 3 routes, the NH44 already had a very high volumes of traffic and was not in a position to withstand any further rise in the traffic.

Around 93.52 kilometres of this segment passes through four tehsils in Parbhani, while 66.46 kilometres passes through three tehsils of Jalna and 19.82 kilometres passes through one tehsil in Nanded.

On 17 February 1978, Hyderabad division was formed by splitting the existing Secunderabad railway division. On 1 April 2002, two new divisions of Guntur and Nanded were created in this zone and the Hubli division was demerged and became part of South Western Railway zone . [ 2 ]
